In 1994, a 9-year-old Renee (Rizzo) Beals purchased her first Collie from Matt Stelter of Wyndlair Collies. Renee and Rookie (Ch. Wyndlair Blue Cherokee) would go on to become one of the most dominant Junior Showmanship teams in breed history, retiring the CCA Junior Showmanship trophy with 3 Best Junior wins and placing 3rd at Crufts (United Kingdom).
Renee waited 10 years for her next Wyndlair Collie – another blue merle – and her patience was rewarded. MBIS/MBISS GCHP. Wyndlair Cherokee Vindication – 2X #1 Rough Collie – retired as the top BISS-winning male Collie in breed history.
Today, Renee and her mother, Laura Rizzo, continue to operate as affiliate breeders in the Wyndlair breeding program. Cherokee Collies is located in the Chicagoland (Illinois) area and occasionally has top-quality Rough Collie puppies available.

Rough Collie Breeders
Cherokee Collies is a 30-year Rough Collie fancier. Our breeding program has been built upon generations of CCA National-winning Wyndlair Collies with an emphasis on supreme breed type, health, and temperament. Wyndlair Collies are bred to be elegant athletes, with exquisite head detail and correct Collie Expression.
About Us
We are heavily involved in the Collie world in the Chicago, Illinois area. Laura is the President of Central States Collie Club and a past member of the CCA National Show Committee. Renee is a past VP and officer with Central State Collie Club. We attend the Collie Club of America National Specialty annually.
Our Location
Cherokee Collies is located in Woodstock, Illinois. We are easily accessible from Rockford (45 min); Chicago (1 hr); Springfield (3.5 hrs); Joliet (1.5 hrs); Peoria (3 hrs); and Champaign (3 hrs).
Beyond the Illinois state border is Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1+ hrs); Indianapolis, Indiana (4 hrs); Des Moines, Iowa (4+ hrs); and St. Louis, Missouri (5 hrs); and Louisville, Kentucky (5+ hrs).
