Rachel was an important piece in the development of our breeding program. Sired by the prepotent sire, Wyndlair Avalanche, ROM, she is out of the exquisite white-factored sable Wyndlair Aurora Borealis. Rachel had the distinction of being the granddaughter of TWO CCA Winners Bitches – Ch. Southland’s Confederate Clouds – 2003 CCA WB & Ch. Twin City Wyndlair Anthem – 2015 CCA WB/BOW. This white-factored blue merle had many valuable virtues, including a beautiful, well-set dark eyes, a full round muzzle, sweeping body lines, rib spring, substance, and a correctly-textured coat that was both beautiful AND easy-to-maintain. If a breeding program is evaluated by the quality of its bitches, we felt blessed to have had this one.
Rachel had immediate success in the show ring from the 6-9 month puppy class. She went Winners Bitch under Marjorie Tuff, Phyllis Autrey and Monica Canestrini, as well as specialty major reserves under Carmen Leonard and George Horn. She also took a Best in Sweepstakes under Sheltie breeder/judge Robert Piccirillo. She finished off her show season taking 2nd Place in the tough 6-9 AOAC class at the 2010 CCA National in California under breeder/judge Barbara Linder. Rachel came back out with a bang at the large 2011 Illiana/Chicago specialty weekend, going WB/BW under Linda Robbins, WB/BOS/BOV over specials under Sandy Thompson, and RWB under Carole Stanley!
Rachel’s legacy will always be her litter sired by Ch. Classique Midnight Vision – 2012 CCA Winners Dog. That litter included:
- Ch. Wyndlair Classique Incandescent – 2014 CCA BOS/BOB
- Ch. Wyndlair Cherokee Exclamation
- Ch. Wyndlair Classique Enchanted
- Ch. Wyndlair Arindel Zaikov
- Ch. Wyndlair Pennylane Sweet Acquisition
Every champion finished with multiple major specialty wins – most in only a handful of shows. Every Wyndlair Collie today traces back to that litter that possessed an extreme level of breed type and quality.
