The Wyndlair family was created by selecting bitches of a certain pheno & genotype to be crossed to the illustrious Ch. Southland’s Bowen Island, ROM. Beyond The Glory’s dam, Ch. Tapestry Silver Spring, was one bitch we were particularly excited about. Wyndlair was able to lease her from Steve & Lisa Finken of Tapestry Collies. Orry was the top pick puppy from this highly-anticipated breeding … and he certainly fulfilled his early promise. Not shown until he was a mature dog, Orry hit the Midwest Specialties like a storm in early 2007 and finishing with back-to-back 5-point specialty majors. He followed that up with some impressive showings as a move-up special, before a thrilling run at the 2007 CCA, making cut after cut up until the very final moments of BOV judging.
Read how Orry’s judges described him in their published critiques:
This dog commanded the ring when he walked in. A beautiful outline set off by a beautiful coat, pretty face, a full round muzzle.” – Judge Linda Tefelski
This dog makes an impressive picture from across the ring, correct outline and fitting coat, and showing a nice profile of head with parallel planes and no depth. His head is lean and clean with good expression.” – Judge Marcia Keller
When this dog walked into the ring, he was a picture to fill the eye. A mature coat and substance and soundness but oozed elegance. Very sound…” – Judge Peggy Conger
…He is a very showy upstanding dog. He catches your eye the minute he walks in the ring. Nice neck and outline, with no depth of head.” – Judge Martha Ramer
As a sire, he left an indelible mark on the breed in just a limited number of litters. Orry was a major stepping stone in creating the Wyndlair family. A multiple champion producer, his greatest accomplishment is undoubtedly siring the prepotent sire, Wyndlair Avalanche, ROM – The Top Non-Champion Sire in Breed History. In doing so, he has forever left his mark on the Collie breed. Orry is also the grandsire of two #1 Rough Collies and two Kem Memorial Sweepstakes Winners.
